Double the Speed of Breakfast

For four years we’ve only used two sections of our four-slice toaster. The second side broke six months after we bought it.

For four years our three children scrambled for the toaster on Pop Tart or bagel mornings. Each wanted to be the first to get one of the two sections. One always had to wait. And complain.

It seemed silly that two sides of our toaster stood empty while three children argued over the other two spots. But since we’re so good at making do with what we have, it seemed silly to replace it.

Until now. NH thought it was silly not to take apart the toaster, look inside and see what was wrong. So, he did. And he fixed it.

This morning, thanks to my son, we doubled the speed of breakfast. Four years and he simply did it. I wish I were as handy as that. But even though I’m not, I’m glad I’m surrounded by family members who are.

That’s too funny and often so common in our lives… I wonder how many toasters we could have fixed with a little or no effort at all…but instead we just carry the burden of it until someone comes along and says, “Enough”!
Hurray for NH…He is a very smart young man:- You are blessed!

On the one hand, I’m really impressed… takes after me nicely. On the other hand, I totally feel like a slacker… sheesh! I coulda done that months ago.

LOL… (Can you send your son to our house for a week – we have plenty of little fix-it jobs he could entertain himself with.)

I could use someone like him over at my house! He’s got quite a future! 🙂
