Can I Only Pick One?

“If you could have any one magical power, what would you pick?”

My youngest daughter pulled out the The Kids Book of Questions at the dinner table and asked us this one.

My answer?

Mufflers on my ears that block all the noise but allow me to tune in and listen when it is important for me to hear.

Summer vacation started with a bang, a bump, a scream, a fight, a loud voice, an interruption and the general inability to concentrate.

My stylist had the same problem. She tried to reassure herself and me that after two weeks we should all settle in. I’m wondering if that means they will reduce the noise, I will grow more tolerant, or those magical mufflers will appear in the mail.

Which power would you choose?

Flying. No question. OK, maybe mind-reading … No, that would be too freaky. Yep, flying. Well, maybe being able to morph into any creature I wanted, then I could fly and do lots of other things. Being an eagle would be so sweat. Just imagine me flying a mile up, then diving down toward an ocean of blue, and right before I hit the waves I morph into a dolphin. That would be indescribably spectacular.

Being able to stop time! And choosing whoever I want to be with me in my “stopped-time” world. Then, my husband and I could stay up late because we know we can just stop time to catch up on sleep. Or I could stop time to get a project done before the deadline. Or when we go on vacation, we could make it last as long as we want!

That stopped time one is a good one. I’m going for ability to clone myself with no one knowing, for brief periods of time, so I can do more than one thing at a time!

I’m waiting for Chevy, Ford, whoever, to start selling a family sedan (or mini-van) with a built-in partition between the front and back seats!
